You can arrange assignments in speedgrader to identify who submitted first and last. Otherwise they will be displayed based on student names presented in alphabetical order. To do so:

Open the assignment in SpeedGrader

Click on the gear icon on the far left

Choose Options and use the dropdown menu for "Sort Student List"



Choose 'the date they submitted the assignment' to sort assignments by date submitted.
