Using the Canvas Calendar

The Canvas Calendar provides a centralised view of all important dates across your modules. It helps staff and students stay organised by displaying assignment due dates, events, Zoom classes and other scheduled activities in one place.

Accessing the Calendar

Click Calendar from the global navigation menu in Canvas. The calendar displays items from all modules you are enrolled in, including assignments, discussions, quizzes, and events.

You can use the calendar sidebar to filter which modules are shown by selecting or deselecting them.

Adding and Managing Events

Instructors can add events directly to the calendar:

  1. Click on a date in the calendar.

  2. Enter a title and details for the event.

  3. Select the appropriate module and choose whether the event applies to the entire module or a specific group.

  4. Save the event.

Calendar events are useful for scheduling live sessions, office hours, review sessions, or non-graded activities.

Assignments and Due Dates

When due dates are added to assignments, discussions, or quizzes within a module, they automatically appear on the Canvas Calendar. Changes made to due dates are reflected on the calendar in real time, helping ensure students always see the most current information.
