You can create asynchronous surveys or quizzes
for your students to complete in their own
time, either on the Vevox app itself or
through the Canvas integration.
Creating an asynchronous survey or quiz
To create an asynchronous survey or quiz using
Vevox, complete the following steps:
- Create a new session in Vevox. See Creating
a new session
in Vevox for more
information. If you are creating the
session in Canvas, see Using
Vevox in
Canvas.
- Click the Surveys tab.
- Optional: To import ready-to-use
survey questions from Vevox's sample
collection, click IMPORT and
select which survey questions you would
like to import. Ready-to-use questions can
still be edited once imported.
- To create your own survey or quiz, click CREATE NEW.
- Enter a survey/quiz name and
description.
- Click + ADD QUESTION.
- Select a question type from the list. The
question types available are: multichoice,
text, ranking, numeric, rating scale, XY
plot, and pin-on image.
- Enter your question in the Question field.
- Add the content of your question. This and
additional settings will vary depending on
question type. If this is a quiz, you can
choose to highlight it by clicking the
icon for some question
types, and selecting Set as correct
answer for others. This will
convert the survey into a
quiz. Participants will get immediate
feedback to their answers after completing
a quiz. Once completed, quiz answers can
no longer be changed. - Click CREATE when you are happy
with the question and click + ADD
QUESTION to add any more
questions.
- When you are ready to send the survey/quiz
to students, click START SURVEY or START QUIZ. The button will be
different depending on whether the
questions are survey or quiz
questions.
- To share the survey/quiz with your
students, click Copy
app link and
share that link with your
students. They can then
answer the questions in
their own
time.
Scheduling a start and end time for your
survey or quiz
You can schedule when your survey
becomes available by setting a start and/or
end time. Once the start time arrives, the
survey will automatically open for
participants and remain available until the
end time (if set).
If no schedule is set, you can open and close
the survey manually using the Open Survey/Quiz / Close Survey/Quiz buttons.
Note: For a survey to
appear and be available in the participant
app, three things must happen -
- The Vevox session must be started
- The survey must be opened — either
manually or automatically (if a schedule
has been set).
- Make sure you confirm your local timezone
on the Session setup tab of the Settings tab so that the scheduled
time is correct.
To schedule a start and end time for your
survey or quiz, complete the following
steps:
- Complete steps 1-10 as
above.
- Click ADVANCED
SETTINGS.
- Add instructions to the Description field. This description will
appear at the top of the survey/quiz
for participants to see.
- Optional: Select the Shuffle
question order checkbox if you
want to randomize the order the
questions appear for each
participant.
- Select the Set a schedule checkbox. Select a Start date and
Start time, and, if required, select
an End date and End time.
- Click Close. The quiz/survey
will be open within the times you have
selected.
