The most
effective means by which
internal examiners who
recorded student marks in
Canvas (e.g. via the gradebook
and/ or feedback tools such as
speedgrader) can release these
marks to students is through
the
gradebook.
When internal examiners
wish to release the grades and
feedback
(including, for example, annotated
pdfs in
Speed Grader, or work done with the
Rubric
tool in Canvas) they will need to go
into
the Grade Book and post the
grades.
For an internal examiner to release
grades to
students via the Gradebook in Canvas,
complete the following steps.
- In Course Navigation,
click Grades.
- To post the
grades
for this assessment
item,
hover over the assessment, click on
the
options menu
at the top of the column and click Post grades.
- Select Everyone from the list, and
click Post. Students are now able
to access
their grades via the Grades menu
item in the
module
Any assessment that has grades
has a
visibility icon next to the
name
of the column. If a manual posting
policy has been applied in a course, all
assignment headers will display
the MANUAL label. This label
indicates that a manual posting policy is
currently in place and future grades are
hidden from student view.
Once a submission has been
graded, the
assignment header displays
the Visibility icon
.
This indicates that there are grades
within the assignment that must be
posted before they can be viewed by
students.

When grades are hidden from
student view,
the Total column also displays
the Visibility icon
. This
indicates that the total grade in the
Gradebook differs from the total grade
viewed by the student.
